My Story

Welcome to my journey of creating inspiring artistic furniture! With the support of my wonderful wife, Katina, who lends a hand in my small cottage garden workshop, from helping in clamp ups to producing rags if by magic, to her invaluable critiques' an essential part of this adventure.

River and Tide Designs was born in 2018, emerging from a journey that began with a passion for antique restoration, honed after studying the craft at college. I started my self employment career in a small industrial workshop nestled in the heart of Hampshire the year was 1999.
After the decline in popularity of Antique furniture and the need for restoration in decline, the workshop closed.

A new venture had to begin so off I went doing what I know best, using my hands and skills helping people renovate properties with some hard landscaping done as well. I had always kept a small cottage garden workshop keeping my hands in the furniture building trade.
In 2018 with a rekindled love of furniture River and Tide Designs was born, The name is a tribute to the beautiful costal town in Hampshire 'Emsworth' with its forever flow and ebbing tide and the flowing River Ems. The burning passion to create furniture that marries practicality with an artistic blend of function and beauty. locally sourced English timber takes center stage, occasionally joined by exotic woods harvested with responsible care.

Most creations are now bespoke commissions, with only a handful of smaller captivating items held in stock - perfect for showcasing at the select local fairs I exhibit throughout the year. Even the offcuts are not wasted - they're transformed into charming treasure's like chopping boards and coat hooks waiting to be discovered on my stock pages or my two local outlets: @ felixtabetha in Emsworth or @sageandsalt in Petersfield.
